This is a high-level analysis which provides an outlook to the impact of the main platinum mining houses’ operations in the Rustenburg area and aims to contribute to the existing debate on the role of mining, corporate sustainability and living conditions of mining communities in South Africa. The study provides a critical perspective into how this impact may manifest, and its implications.
