The Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) organized an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on the theme “Financing Africa’s Infrastructure and Agricultural Development: Inclusive Growth for Economic Transformation” in October 2017. This high-level event focused on ways of ensuring adequate financing for the implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a critical element for growth, prosperity and sustainable development in Africa. The event discussed some of the several efforts that are underway to prioritize domestic resource mobilization, including tax reform by African Member States and international efforts to fight money laundering, tax evasion and the illicit financial flows (IFFs) that have almost depleted domestic resource bases.
