This is a statement by US Attorney General Holder at the African Union Summit IN 2010. He revealed estimates from the World Bank that more than one trillion dollars in bribes are paid each year out of a world economy of 30 trillion dollars. He called for a stop to this rot to a practice that must never be condoned. Corruption imperils development, stability, competition, and economic investment. He also revealed that the U.S. Department of Justice is launching a new Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative aimed at combating large-scale foreign official corruption and recovering public funds for their intended – and proper – use: for the people of our nations.
