<dc:Subject>corruption, smuggling, drug, taxes, money laundering, natural resources</dc:Subject>
<dc:Description>The report looks at how Illicit financial flows have become a very critical issue in Africa especially looking at the way it has harboured development within the region. There has been little knowledge across the region on illicit flows and its impacts on the economies of countries. Africa has lost approximately 1.4trillion US dollars between 1980 and 2009 through illicit financial flows hence the need for the researchers to step up and ensure that relevant information is available and accessible for the problem to be tackled. Illicit financial flows come in different forms which include corruption, bribery, smuggling, drugs, taxes, money laundering, natural resources, racketeering and mispricing which all have contributed to the weakening of the African economic regimes. There is need to introduce strict laws to curb illicit financial flows and the Nigerian government has taken huge steps in this initiative through introducing the integrated tax administration system and transfer pricing regulations.</dc:Description>
