<subfield code="a">Since 2006, fears have been growing that African, particularly West African, countries are being used as trans-shipment points for shipments from Asia of precursor chemicals such as ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, the main chemicals used in the illicit manufacture of amphetamine-type stimulants such as methamphetamine and methcathinone. The final destinations of these chemicals are countries in Central and North America, and to a lesser extent, South Africa.
