South African Crime Quarterly is an inter-disciplinary peer-reviewed journal that promotes professional discourse and the publication of research on the subjects of crime, criminal justice, crime prevention, and related matters including state and non-state responses to crime and violence. The articles in this edition raise important considerations about the consequence of locating crime combatting as a community function. The state responses to corruption favour those that hold power thus a sobering assessment of the court services and the state responses to organised crime is illustrated in these articles.
