Summary, etc This report points out how Australian-based multinationals are ripping billions of dollars both out of the Australian economy, and the economies of some of their poorest neighbours through tax havens and avoidance. Oxfam estimates that nearly one in every $5 of overseas investment in Australia came from a tax haven in 2014. Recently, the Panama Papers leaks brought to light a fraction of the murky underside of a hidden financial system revealing thousands of examples of questionable practices. In conclusion this report contains an analysis of current Australian Government policies, including inadequacies and recommendations for policy changes that will tackle tax dodging at home and abroad.
