Mobilisation of Domestic Resources: Fighting against Corruption and Illicit Financial Flows - Addis Ababa African Union 2018 - 24p.

This paper, published by African Union, explains that illicit financial flows (IFFs) and corruption have long been at the centre of discussions on development in Africa, particularly due to the existence of a wide consensus on their negative impacts on development financing in Africa. IFFs are obstacles to productive investments, resulting in distortions in allocations of budgetary resources, and systematically increasing inequalities. With an estimate of US$50 billion lost to IFFs annually, the African Union dedicated the year 2018 to combatting corruption under the theme “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path for Africa’s Transformation”.
